In the Café Vamp incident, a 19 year old female worker was bullied by multiple colleagues in a Melbourne café. The workplace bullying endured by the victim led to her taking her own life. The café was fined $220,000 on two charges of failing to provide and maintain a safe workplace and failing to properly train and supervise employees. The company Director was issued an individual fine of $30,000 and convicted of the same charges. Three Cafe employees were fined and convicted under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Their fines were $45,000, $30,000 and $10,000 respectively.   The Café subsequently closed as patron numbers plummeted and it was targeted by activists who were appalled by the incident.
